Playing with cousins is pretty much the best way to spend a summer afternoon. I remember how much fun I had with my cousins and it's so cool to see my kids with my cousin's kids now. They even have some of the same arguments we used to have. Funny how that works.
On this day, it was girls against boys. The girls made a very cute little girls only "clubhouse" in a bush while the boys perfected some stunts on the tire swing. Good times.

The next time you're thinking about having professional photos taken of your family or your kids, think about what you're really going to want to remember, and plan your session around that. If you're in the west central Indiana/east central Illinois area, I'd love to work with you to capture your priceless memories. You can contact me or click here for more details.
I LOVE photographing babies and little kids...especially when I get the privilege of photographing them again and again and watching them grow. I first met sweet little Ellie back in March at her newborn session, and now she's already 6 months old!
I met up with Ellie, her mommy and daddy, her Aunt Kylee and her cousin Jace at Fowler Park on Monday. I love Fowler Park because it's easy to find good light at pretty much any time during the day, so it's a great choice if your only option for a session is in the middle of the day.
Jace is such a sweet older cousin to Ellie! I loved seeing them together.
Ellie is SO SWEET! She was such a happy little girl for her session and so smiley. Six months is pretty much the perfect baby age, in my opinion. They can sit up and play with toys but can't crawl away yet. Their personalities are starting to show more and more. It's a good age.
Jace wasn't super excited about the whole getting his picture taken thing. Luckily for us, I just happened to wear my Kermit t-shirt to the session, and Jace just so happens to love Kermit. What are the odds? So, we just had to say "Jace, look at Kermit!" to get a little eye contact. Also, a little bribery goes a long way...I think I heard that he was getting a new Power Ranger out of the deal too. I loved getting to meet Jace and his mommy and he was really a sweet and funny little guy.
I just love Ellie's big bright eyes!
I have a thing for silhouettes...I just love them.
This is why I do what I do...capturing little moments like this for families makes me happy!
See? He's super sweet with her!

Remember the bookworm session I did with daughter back in April? Well, that session was supposed to include all these kids too, but when my son broke his arm and then had surgery on it a month later, that sort of messed up our plans. Then it got hot. Really hot. So we waited. And waited. And now here were are in July and we finally got it done!
This first shot is my bff's kids. When I mentioned to her about wanting to do this session, she got really excited. They homeschool and she thought it would be so cool to decorated their school room with some fun and colorful photos. So, while I chose mostly black and white for my daughter's session, we went for color on these and I LOVE them! They're just so fun!
I'm usually not big on lots of props in photos, unless they are meaningful. This family reads a LOT, so I'd say books were a pretty good choice for them.
The plan was to get a shot of all 7 kids (my 4 plus her 3), then hers together, then mine together, then each individually, then the girls together, then the boys together. It was an ambitious plan, but my husband came along to help with the little kids, and it was actually going really well, but then my oldest son got sick in the middle of the session. So I didn't get any of him or all the boys together, but I'm really happy with everything else. Luckily, we were smart enough to get the hardest shot out of the way first.
I just LOVE this one! Abbie (on the right) and Elisabeth are such good little friends. I'm hoping that they stay good friends forever just like their moms and photos like this will be so special to them when they're grown up.

I can't believe little miss Makenna is already TWO! She's such a sweet little girl and I was so excited to photograph her and her family again.
We started off with some bubbles, then some books with her mommy, dress-up, and a tractor ride with her daddy.
I just love two-year-olds. Sure, they throw fits now and then, but they are just SO full of energy and fun.

I never got around to doing a photoshoot with Joey back in the spring when I did the other kids because he had a broken arm, then had to have surgery, so he had a cast or brace on for over two months (and actually still has so wear the brace when he's playing), so these photos were long overdue. I took him (and his sketchbook) out and tried out some different places around Clinton.
Joey wants to be an artist when he grows up (or a preacher...or a football player...or a movie producer). He's been on a zentangle kick lately.
After we tried out all the places I wanted to use, we headed to our church. Joey plays the tambourine on Sunday mornings and wanted some pictures with it. I love that kid!
I had a great time with Joey. With four kids, it's hard to find time alone with each one but this was a good day. He even said it was fun, and he usually hates having his picture taken. Maybe bribing him with McDonald's helped a little.
This is my niece Erin...I can't believe she's 16 already! We've been planning this photoshoot for quite a while but had to reschedule a few times due to weather, so I was glad we finally got it done in time for me to order her book for her party. I designed a super cute book for her friends to sign at her party and I can't wait for her to see it!
All these photos were done in Clinton. I tend to shoot more in Terre Haute, but decided to break out of my comfort zone and find some new spots.
You can see more of her photos on my facebook page. Make sure to click "like" while you're there and leave some comments - you know how much teenage girls like comments!
